Heart Conditions
Jeremiah 17:7-10
לֵב (lêb) (labe) – A form of H3824; the heart; also used (figuratively) very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect; likewise, for the center of anything.[1]
Καρδία (kardia) (kar-dee’-ah) – Prolonged from a primary κάρ kar (Latin cor, “heart”); the heart, that is, (figuratively) the thoughts or feelings (mind); also (by analogy) the middle.[2]
לֵבָב (lêbâb) (lay-bawb’) – From H3823; the heart (as the most interior organ); used also like H3820: – bethink themselves, breast, comfortably, courage, understanding.[3]
Heart Conditions According to Hebrews 3:7-13
- Hard Heart – (v 8)
- Wandering Heart- (v 10)
- Unbelieving (Evil) Heart- (v 12)
Evil Heart Conditions
- Stubborn (Ecclesiastes 8:11)
- Madness (Ecclesiastes 9:3)
- Depravity (Jeremiah 17:9)
- Extortion and excess (Matthew 23:25)
- Fountainhead of all evil (Mark 7:21)
- Source of unbelief and covetousness (Hebrews 3:12; 2 Peter 2:14)
Your battle today will not be against “flesh and blood” but the deceitful forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12) and the deceitfulness of indwelling sin (Hebrews 3:13). And these two forces are going to try to use your emotions against you. Therefore, your emotions are a gauge, but they should not be what guides you. Faith in God is what guides you!
Luke 8:15 “And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (RV)
